“We have recently spent a week at the Hotel Poggio Degli Ulivi with two young teenagers.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and quiet at night ensuring the guests can have an undisturbed sleep.
The restaurant offers simple but tasty meals, as it is the tradition in this area of Italy, with some local dishes. The service was attentive and quick. On the days we went on excursions we were given a packed lunch which included two panini, fresh fruit and a bottle of water.
We used the tennis and football courts facilities nearby (just 0.5 Km away, though it is better to go by car than walking due to the winding road and a few stray dogs we encountered when we first tried to walk there), staff at reception will be happy to book in advance on your behalf, ideally the day before.
We used the mini shuttle bus to the beach (approx 4 Km away), we found the service very convenient and flexible (making extra runs between the timetable times, if demand was in excess of the 8-9 available seats).
We always ended the day by the swimming pool, a very relaxing area, except for Wednesday afternoons when swimming lessons take place for about 1-1.5 hours.
On our last day we drove to the Foresta Umbra and then to Monte Sant’Angelo, recommended by the hotel’s owners. It was well worth a visit, beautiful scenery on the way, a very well preserved Norman castle and interesting cathedral to visit, we also stopped at a go-karting track on our way back.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our time at Hotel Poggio degli ulivi, an ideal base to explore the whole beautiful Gargano area. We would certainly go back again.”
